The relevant standard for equipment intended for operation within Europe, including the UK, is EN 50065-1 which has been notified in the Official Journal of the European Union as an EMC standard. The British Standard implementation of the European Standard is BS EN 50065-1, which has the BSI status of the UK national standard. Other parts of BS EN 50065 are in preparation. () The UK participation in the preparation of both standards was entrusted to Technical Committee PEL/205, Mains signalling, which has the responsibility to: ICopy, aid enquirers to understand the text; - present to the responsible international/European committee any enquiries on the interpretation, or proposals for change, and keep the UK interests informed; Uncontrolled - monitor related international and European developments and promulgate them in the UK. For instance, IEC 27-1 has been renumbered as IEC 60027-1.
