However, attention is drawn to the fact that during the development of the European Standard the United Kingdom consistently voted against its approval as a European Standard. As far as the UK is concerned, it is dangerous and unacceptable to have a European Standard that differs from the corresponding International Standard by the across flats dimension for one size offastener, all other requirements being identical between the two standards concerned. As part of BST's duty of care, we draw the attention of users of this standard to our concerns that M10 nuts conforming to EN14218 differ from similar fasteners conforming toISO 10663 in the across flats dimension only.This is 16 mm in EN14218 and 15 mm inISO10663.BSI will assume no liability whatsoeverfor the failure on the part of any user ofthis standardnot to consider thisaspect.
